Jim Penola is an illustrator, storyboard artist, and graphic designer. After graduating with a B.F.A. at William Paterson University, he studied closely under his storyboarding mentors Robert Castillo (The Sopranos, Precious) and William H. Frake III (Ice Age, Pocahontas, Who Framed Roger Rabbit?).
Jim has had a concentration in Storyboarding since college, where he met and was encouraged by his then-professor, eventual-mentor, now-friend Robert Castillo – an industry veteran and winner of the Student Academy Award.
Aside from his storyboard work, Jim has compiled a healthy body of illustrative pieces, ranging from original character designs, commissioned concept art, and contemporary film & music posters (not to mention his own vault of sketchbooks). You can find all of the aforementioned categories on this site.
